Vincent van Gogh style celebrity portraits

OK, admittedly this turned out a bit weird- but it was great fun and I think the group learned something of van Gogh's portrait painting style. We took celebrity pictures and used oil pastels to cover them in marks inspired by Vincent's work. The kids were aged between 6 and 9. Can you guess who they are??

Arty Olympics for Rawlins Roadshow

Today Rawlins has hosted a roadshow for year 4s from Shelthorpe Primary. I made flags and masks with them before they went on to take part in Olympic Games with dance and PE staff. A great day!

Vincent Van Gogh collaborative canvas

Continuing our series 'Be the Artist' this week we looked at Vincent Van Gogh and decided to create a collaborative canvas inspired by his work. I was so pleased with the way the children and teenagers worked together. I am going to use this piece in our forthcoming community exhibition.

Burton on the Wolds and Hoton Milk Carton Planter Project

In preparation for the Olympic torch relay appearing at Hoton in early July, Hoton council asked the children at Burton on the Wolds to make plant holders to be attached to street lights. This is what we did: take a clean milk carton and cut the base off. Turn upside down and paint in three colours- use acrylic paint because it is waterproof. Once dry, draw face and patterns with permanent marker pens. Place a plant in a pot in the top and hang.

Many congratulations to you and your children on achieving a Guinness World Records title. A staggering total of 201,948 portraits have been thoroughly scrutinised by Guin ness World Records and verified as individual artworks. You may be pleased to know that the previous record, set in 2009 in Tel Aviv with 28,267 contributors, has more than been surpassed. We will officially announce the record on Tuesday 12th June but wanted to let everyone who took part hear the news first. Also attached is a Face Britain Certificate of Participation with the Guinness World Records Record Holder logo which you might like to print out, personalise and present to all your pupils who created self portraits in support of Face Britain. Bird painting at Art Camp

Enjoy this gallery of bird paintings by the Dali group at art camp this morning. Using nature books for inspiration they drew in crayon and painted in watercolours to create this stunning effect.
