WCAD UPDATE

World Community Art Day is FULL! I'm so sorry, but we have already reached a limit of 80 participants!

I am, however, inviting people to offer their help in running workshops, if you are interested!

Illuminated tiles

Illuminated manuscripts from the Middle Ages provided the inspiration behind today's art workshop in St Paul's Primary school, Woodhouse Eaves. Pupils designed a tile based on their first initial and learned about text styles and lettering. We used Artform paint, which is completely suitable for any surface and comes in the brightest colours.

As part of the BEST (Barrow Extended Schools Team) group, each of the Primary schools in the cluster have had the opportunity to decide on an arty taster session. I have delivered some of these myself, including this project. It is hoped that more schools will decide to provide art based after school and lunchtime clubs in the area.

World Community Arts Day 2009

Wondering whether you fancy coming to World Community Arts Day? These pictures give you a small taste of the activities on offer. The real success of the day, however, is the fact that parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, next door neighbours and children from all over the area come together to make art. That is why it is a special day. Our artists work for free, our materials are inexpensive, we ask people to bring their own carrier bags to take things home in, and it works really well!
Remember, it happens at half term, so the kids are off..why not take a day off too?!

World Community Arts Day

ART as a catalyst for caring and sharing

World Community Arts Day is happening all over the world on Feb 17th...and we are hosting an event here at Rawlins that YOU are invited to.

The whole of the art department is opening it's doors. Each room will be an art experience, from pottery to urban art, jewellery making to sculpture. Eight workshops in all will be run by artists to enable you to have the time and freedom to experiment with materials and ideas while enjoying the company of like minded people. All ages, all abilities!

It's only £2 to spend the day here, from 10am to 4pm. You bring your own snacks, drinks and lunch and I'd recommend old clothes as you could get messy!

Call 01509 622827 to book a place. Pre-booking is essential!

Contact me if you would like to help RUN a workshop.
